When it comes to RV accessories, bigger is not always better—especially when an add-on needs to fit inside a rooftop air conditioner. Just in time for this travel season, NetworkRV introduces a much smaller SoftStartRV unit that cuts the size of the original product by over 42%. What's more, the latest SoftStartRV device also features an easy installation process.

How a SoftStartRV Makes RV Life Better

A SoftStartRV unit on each RV air conditioner enables you to start and run two A/Cs on a 30-amp hookup or a generator. It also gives you the ability to start and run one air conditioner on a small 2200-watt generator. With the right setup and inverter, SoftStartRV can even let you run an air conditioner from batteries.

The flexibility of a SoftStartRV A/C device can change how you plan RV adventures by allowing you to go places you never thought possible with limited power. You'll have the ability to start and run your air conditioner when you get there.

SoftStartRV has always been a game-changer, enabling people to comfortably RV in environments and situations they couldn't before. However, the size of a typical soft start unit was sometimes too large for the installation space, and installing an electrical control could seem too complex for the average DIYer. The new SoftStartRV addresses both challenges.

All the Functionality in a Smaller, Easy-to-Install Package

NetworkRV now offers a smaller SoftStartRV product—the smallest on the market, according to the original product description. Its size has been reduced by 42%, from 71.33 cubic inches to 40.72 cubic inches.

When you're fitting a component into a cramped space, such as under the cover of a rooftop A/C unit, this reduction can make a significant difference. But going smaller wasn't enough—they also wanted to make installation easier.

How Does an A/C Soft Starter Work?

An A/C soft starter reduces the startup electrical power demand of a typical RV air conditioner. When you turn the A/C on, it normally draws a surge of power to start the compressor. This can cause a loud, vibrating thump and may trip breakers if the power demand exceeds the available supply.

A SoftStartRV changes this by reducing the power needed to start an RV air conditioner. Instead of allowing one large burst of incoming energy, it smooths out the amperage draw. The result can be less noise, fewer vibrations, and cooling without interruptions caused by tripped breakers.

According to the original product description, SoftStartRV can reduce startup power demand by up to 70%. This can make it possible to run air conditioners in limited-power situations that might otherwise be difficult.

Easy SoftStartRV A/C Installation

Many people have not added a SoftStartRV to their RV because they are concerned about the installation process. Working with electrical components can be intimidating, especially when you're on the roof of an RV.

To make installation easier, SoftStartRV provides installation diagrams, instructions, and online and live customer support.

No-Cut, No-Splice Installation

Understanding that people may be concerned about wiring a soft start device, SoftStartRV developed what it describes as a six-step, no-cut/no-splice installation process. This approach is designed to avoid cutting or splicing wires.

If NetworkRV doesn't have instructions for a specific RV and air conditioner, customers can submit a picture of the air conditioner's electrical diagram and information about the RV through a support ticket. The team can then prepare a color diagram with step-by-step instructions.

If you still need assistance, you can schedule rooftop installation support. A support team member can guide you through the process over the phone at an agreed date and time.

What's Included with Your SoftStartRV?

The NetworkRV team continues to focus on product improvements while maintaining the quality and support customers expect. The company has developed a compact soft starter and an installation process designed to make setup easier.

When you order a SoftStartRV, you'll receive the unit, instructions, and an installation kit with the parts needed for installation. You'll still need tools and electrical tape, but the connectors and other included components are provided with the kit.

You can download the instructions for your specific unit from the company's website and follow the steps provided. Installation may take as little as 30 minutes, depending on the setup and experience.
